First edition first printing of this autobiographical novel of the author. A African American man who was in prison for participating in a crime in which a security officer was killed. The four other men all received prison sentences but Paul was given a death sentence. He had 15 execution dates before his sentence was commuted to 199 years. The book says "the frame work of this novel is true." Folk singer Phil Ochs wrote the song Paul Crump. Edge wear. Rubbing to the surface of the dustjacket.
